Haslam Executive MBA Program in Prestigious Top 100 International Ranking for Second Year

October 29, 2021

For the second consecutive year, the Haslam Executive MBA program in the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Haslam College of Business ranked in the London-Based Financial Times’ top 100 international executive MBA programs. In the Times’ 2021 list, Haslam moves up two spots to No. 95. Haslam is one of only 31 U.S. EMBA programs in the top 100 and one of just 13 U.S. public institutions included in the Financial Times’ list. The Executive MBA offers three options – Global Supply Chain, Healthcare Leadership and Strategic Leadership.

“Earning a place in the Financial Times’ list for a second year attests to the educational quality our executive students receive from our EMBA faculty and staff, and it is indicative of how much our alumni value their Haslam EMBA,” Bruce Behn, Haslam’s associate dean for graduate and executive education, said. “This ranking reflects the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff, who are always striving to deliver the most relevant and innovative education possible.”

Considered one of the most rigorous and esteemed rankings in the world, the Times’ top 100 list evaluates programs around the globe, using exacting, comprehensive benchmarks. The categories reviewed include alumni salaries, salary increases and career progress, diversity of faculty and students, corporate social responsibility, faculty research productivity and overall alumni satisfaction, among others.

Within the Financial Times’ Top 100 subcategories, Haslam scored highly on overall alumni satisfaction, based on alumni ratings of their EMBA experience on a 10-point scale, with 10 as the best. Haslam scored 9.57 out of 10, the second highest U.S. public university program ranking on the list for overall alumni satisfaction.

Additionally, Haslam’s faculty research (which accounts for 10 percent of the overall ranking score) is ranked at No. 66 worldwide and No. 13 among U.S. public colleges. The ranking is calculated according to the number of articles published by a school’s current full-time faculty members in 50 select academic and practitioner journals between January 2018 and May 2021 and combines the absolute number of publications with the number weighted relative to the faculty’s size.

EMBA programs must meet certain criteria to be eligible for ranking, including being accredited by either the U.S.’s Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business or Europe’s Equis. Also, the EMBA must be cohort-based, with students enrolling and graduating together with at least 30 graduates each year.
